Packing and moving your belongings can be a stressful process. However, at MI-BOX, we aim to provide a convenient, affordable, and stress-free solution for your moving and storage needs. We want to help take the stress out of moving so that you can focus on the experience of your next new beginning. However, before packing and loading your MI-BOX container, you should know what items must not go into your mobile storage unit. Keep reading for a list of items to keep out of your MI-BOX container.
Items to Not Pack in Your MI-BOX Container
Valuable Items
Valuable items, such as essential documents, social security cards, birth certificates, jewelry, firearms, financial information, important records, and keys, should not be packed in your mobile storage unit. While MI-BOX containers provide the utmost security, it’s best practice to keep these valuable items with you, depending on the item, in a safe, purse, or other secure location in your possession. It is also important to keep checkbooks, cash, and other forms of payment in a purse or wallet with you, should you need them for anything.
Hazardous Materials
Never pack hazardous materials in your storage container – in a box or out in the open. Fireworks, aerosols, cleaning products, propane tanks, poisons, chemicals such as bleach, and batteries are hazardous materials that should not be packed into your MI-BOX mobile storage container. Gasoline is also prohibited from being placed inside your unit due to its volatile nature and potential fire hazard risk. View your contract for more information.
Food
Perishable food items such as milk, meat, yogurt, fruit/vegetable produce, or cheeses should not be placed inside your MI-BOX container due to the potential for spoilage. Spoilage can cause an unpleasant odor or mold that can result in damaged personal property that is located nearby.
Electronics
Laptops and cell phones are two examples of electronics that must not go into your MI-BOX mobile storage unit because they contain delicate components susceptible to temperature fluctuations. Heat, for example, may cause irreparable damage to the electronics themselves. Therefore, the safest place for these items is in your possession or the vehicle of the person moving.
